WIP backlog: mitred square blankets

Mirrored from The OEconomist. You can comment there or here.

Couple more WIP pics. I’ve got two mitred square blankets in progress, one made from sock yarn ends and the other from Noro Kureyon left over from my Lizard Ridge blanket chequered with black Cascade 220.

The sock yarn blanket has squares that are 20 stitches to a side, while the Noro one has 15-stitch-a-side squares. Both are about 60cm in diameter at the moment. I knit a bit on them every so often when I want something brainless to do. They’re growing slowly, and I expect it’ll be years before they’re both finished, but that’s okay.

Wow, what a great pick-up-and-put-down project! They both look very cool, especially the squares with the colour changes.

They are lovely. I started some mitred squares once, but think I ended up frogging and re-using the yarn for something else.

lovely fun, pretty and warm. Aha, she says, the mitredness both alievieated boredom in the knitting and balances the stretch in the finished blankie.
